The Superyacht Bayesian sank off the coast of Sicily due to a storm around a week ago. At this time, there have been Fifteen survivors of the sinking, predominantly crew, with seven deaths of predominantly non-crew, with tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch being one of the casualties. While there were seven confirmed deaths, one of the bodies of the passengers has yet to be recovered from the wreck. The pattern seems to be that the people on deck had the best chance of survival during the sinking, as they were active and able to escape in time. The yacht sank in a shocking sixteen-minute window, leaving little time to wake everyone up and evacuate.

As of now, the captain of the yacht, James Cutfield, is on trial by Italian authorities for manslaughter charges. He is a New Zealand national, which makes the legal case complicated. It is still unknown what will happen if he is arrested.
