Donald Trump was recently gifted a plane by the Qatari royal family at the time of his visit. This has immediately stirred controversies. There have been claims that this constitutes as a bribe by Qatar's royal family and created questions on whether it is legal or not. Critics have pointed to the emoluments clause, which states that people in the federal government are barred from accepting gifts from a foreign power, which includes royalty. This clause does however include the fact that these gifts can be accepted if given permission from Congress. The Trump administration so far has continued to claim that the acceptance of Qatar's gift is legal, as it is being handed to the United States Air Force instead of the president directly.
