Yesterday, president Trump met with his Syrian counterpart, al-Sharaa in Saudia Arabia. Trump seemingly had warm words about Sharaa, stating that he has "a tremendous opportunity to do something historic in his country". Trump followed this up with the statement that he would remove sanctions from Syria, if they promise to sign on to the Abraham Accords. If Syria does decide to join, it could be a large step towards greater normalization of Israeli-Arab relations. Turkish leader Erdogan has praised this, with him urging the United States to follow through on removing sanctions. Having American support could solidify the transitional government's grip on power in the nation. With the United States dropping sanctions on the nation, others could follow in its footsteps.
