Syrian President Ahmed al- Sharaa
Its official- the European Union has moved to remove Syrian sanctions. This has come off the coattails of the United States declaring their removal of sanctions the previous week. This would have massive effects on a nation long dealing with internal and external strife. Through the removal of sanctions, Syria has a chance to stabilize their economy with frozen assets from the Assad era, along with with regained access to global markets. There is a second, less spoken effect of the removal of the sanctions; legitimizing the new government. Through doing this, the EU is giving Syria the chance to change for the better.
