Hamas has rejected another Isreali ceasefire deal. This deal proposed a 60 day ceasefire which would have exchanged hostages with detained Palestinians. The United States created the deal, but it was accepted and passed on to Hamas through Israel. Hamas rejected this on the basis that it was not a permanent end to the war, but more of a temporary truce. Currently, Hamas still has 58 hostages, which has been Israel's stated goal of the war. Israel has also recently been facing pushback for their attacks, which has caused massive damage on civilians and infrastructure in the Gaza Strip. Israel has continuously stated that they will not leave Gaza unless the hostages are returned, leaving the conflict at a standstill for now.
