Con Edison

As the heat wave begins to surge in New York City, New Yorkers are starting to feel the consequences. It has been reported that the electrical grid has become strained throughout the city. During heat waves, the grid can become overloaded, leading to power outages due to increased demand.

Staten Island and Queens are the boroughs affected the most by the blackouts so far, but it has affected others, such as the Bronx. Con Edison has informed these communities that it is essential to conserve energy to minimize power outages and have even started handing out dry ice to encourage turning off the air conditioner. They have begun the strenuous process of restoring power to affected communities.

By the time this post is up, power in the Bronx should have been restored, with Queen's power returning by 10 pm EST. For the other boroughs, however, it remains to be seen.
