Democratic candidate for the 2024 presidential election Kamala Harris is currently leading in several key battleground states against former president Donald Trump, who led in almost every swing state just weeks ago.
A new New York Times/Sienna polls finds Kamala Harris leading Trump outright in Arizona by 5 points, and North Carolina at 2 points, with Trump holding narrow leads in Nevada by 1 point and Georgia by 4 points.
Prior to this new groundbreaking poll, NYT/Sienna consistently gave Trump sweeping results across all swing states, especially before Biden dropped out of the race, giving Trump upwards of double-digit leads in some polls.
This new surge of support for Harris comes after Biden dropped out of the presidential race more than three weeks ago, shifting the political mantle to Harris, who is significantly younger than her running mate in 2020, and is much more appealing to African-American voters, women, and progressives as a whole who were turned off by Joe Biden.
Now, many progressives across key swing states are committing to voting for Harris despite previously feeling indifferent about Joe Biden, giving her considerable heights in new polls to where she is breaking Trump's line of defense which he held for months across these swing states.
Trump is once again taking to the offensive following this surge in the polls for Harris, criticizing her "failed" "border czar" policies and attacking her economic policies which he believes could plunge the economy further downward. Meanwhile, Harris is outlining her plan which seems appealing to voters, including a $25,000 subsidy to new homeowners, making many voters support her over Trump.
