Due to Ukraine cutting off the Russian gas supply to Europe, nations have struggled with shortages. This has been especially prevalent in Transnistria, a state unrecognized by most in the world. Transnistria has typically been highly reliant on Russian gas and has been in a difficult situation without it. They have been forced to conserve gas and even use wood for fuel as an alternative. Moldova has offered to step in and help Transnistria with gas in the form of a loan, which is expected to be paid back by March 1st of 2025. The Transnistrian president has claimed that the gas is not a long-term solution, but it is a benefit for the struggling population nonetheless.
