Somalia offers the United States aerial and naval bases in their land

Somalia, in an effort to strengthen relations with the Trump Administration, has offered naval and air access to the United States. This has an ulterior motive of isolating the breakaway state of Somaliland. Somaliland is a nominally independent state that has not received recognition from any recognized state. Some of the infrastructure offered is in areas controlled by Somaliland. Somaliland has criticized Somalia's actions and called them a "corrupted regime". Gaining access to the infrastructure would be vital for fighting terrorism in the Red Sea, an area that is needed in global trade. Somalia knows this, which is why it is adamant in its efforts.
