The current Syrian president, Ahmed al-Sharaa, has recently traveled to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, most likely in order to curry favors with the nation. So far, Saudi Arabia has seemed receptive to it, with the Foreign Minister of the Kingdom stating that they will give diplomatic support to the European Union and the United States to remove sanctions from Syria. Having Saudi Arabia recognize the new Syrian regime could lead to other nations following suit. Saudi Arabia has considerable influence in the Arab and Muslim world and could help to advocate for Syria. There can also be an economic factor, with Saudi Arabia having the ability to invest into Syria, which will benefit the new regime in the long run.
