U.S. markets experienced a mixed session on Wednesday, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite reaching record highs, while the Dow Jones declined.

The S&P 500 gained 0.3%, closing at 6,512.61 points, and the Nasdaq Composite also achieved a record close, driven by strong performances in technology stocks, particularly Oracle, which surged 35% on optimism surrounding artificial intelligence. Conversely, the Dow fell over 200 points, influenced by declines in major industrial stocks.

The market's performance was further influenced by recent economic data. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported a downward revision of 911,000 jobs for the year ending in March 2025, marking the largest such revision in history. This revision has raised concerns about the strength of the labor market and its potential implications for economic growth.

In commodities, gold and silver prices continued their upward trend. Gold traded at $3,640, reflecting a 38% YTD gain, driven by expectations of potential Fed rate cuts and increased investor demand for safe-haven assets. Silver also saw gains, trading at $37.41.

Cryptocurrencies experienced positive momentum, with Bitcoin reaching $113,895, up 2.35%, and XRP trading at $3.00, up 1.35%. The rise in XRP's price is attributed to reduced legal uncertainties and increased institutional interest.

International markets mirrored the U.S. trend, with the FTSE 100 and Nikkei 225 both experiencing gains. The FTSE 100 closed at 9,226.57, marking a two-week high, while the Nikkei 225 rose to 44,241.24, reflecting positive investor sentiment in global markets.

Investors are awaiting the release of the August Consumer Price Index data, scheduled for this Thursday, which will provide further insights into inflation trends and potential Federal Reserve policy actions.
