According to a group of Morning Consult polls released on July 9th, Trump's approval rating slipped in the same swing states won by him in the 2024 presidential election.

Nationwide, the president enjoys a positive approval rating in 27 states, all of which are considered "Red States" and the remaining 23 states disapprove of him.
While his support still remains strong in conservative areas, swing regions that previously supported him over Vice President Kamala Harris has slipped in July according to the Morning Consult poll. Wisconsin disapproves of the president by roughly 5%, compared to his winning margin of less than 1% in 2024, a six-point shift. In Michigan, voters disapprove of Trump by 2%, far below his winning margin of 1.4% in the state against Harris. In Pennsylvania, his approval and disapproval rating are virtually tied in a state won by him by almost 3%. Even in Arizona, won by him by a solid 6%, his approval rating fell to less than 1%.
Two key gubernatorial races this fall - Virginia and New Jersey - have now come into the spotlight as the president's approval in those states fell. In Virginia, where Democrat Abigail Spanberger will face off against Republican Winsome Earle-Sears, Trump's approval rating fell from 46% last month to 45%, changing his net rating to 4%. And in New Jersey, the president's disapproval rating of 9% still did not change.
These changes came as heavy Democratic opposition came into fruition from the passage of the "Big, Beautiful Bill" expected to cut over 100,000 individuals from Medicare services and a high number of children from access to food through SNAP.
In addition, further tariff threats have alienated many moderates who may now pay the price of the price increases.
