Trump's approval rating slips amid nationwide protests

President Trump's approval rating slipped this week amid nationwide protests against ICE enforcement, and other developments,

President Trump.
President Trump.

According to a poll conducted by NBC News Decision Desk, an overwhelming 55% of Americans disapprove of the job of the president, while a much smaller 45% approve, with no neutral option made available for respondents. The poll was strawed right before the president's own 250th anniversary military parade during both his birthday and Flag Day.

Even worse for the president, in the part of the poll that asked what emotion respondents were feeling, most Democrats chose furious, while a small number of Republicans (25%) chose thrilled, with those options respectively being polar opposites in the poll.

But the only fortunate news for the president was Americans' approval of his immigration policies, with a 51% approval rating in that regard.

According to the RealClearPolitics polling aggregate for presidential approval, Trump currently sits at a net disapproval rating of 4% across dozens of polls. A Harvard-Harris poll gave Trump a 4% disapproval rating, Daily Mail gave a similar 4% disapproval rating, and Quinnipiac have a 16% disapproval rating, all while Rasmussen gave Trump a 6% approval rating. So, polls are mixed wherever you go, but the general consensus is that Trump is underwater.

Trump's recent dip in approval was caused by his fierce response to anti-ICE protests across the nation, where he deployed national guard forces because of an invocation of the Insurrection Act, which many say that he overstretched so that he could quell the protests without approval of the state.

Also, Trump's approval dipped following the Israel-Iran conflict, when the president failed to stop tensions right away as missiles continue to strike Israel and Iran, including a U.S. embassy in Israel. Parts of Tel Aviv have sustained damage, which has infuriated Jewish-Americans who called for more action to stop the conflicts.
