Tuvalu begins greater preparation for the island sinking-Tuvaluans get Australian visas

Australia

While climate change is growing over time, it is uniquely damaging to this island nation. Tuvalu is a Pacific island country in Oceania. Tuvalu's landmass is situated at one of the lowest elevations in the world, which means it faces a very real danger of being submerged in the coming decades. Its citizens have already taken action, with around a third of the population getting visas from the country of Australia. Australia has done this with the understanding of the Tuvaluan government that if things worsen, Australia will assume the responsibility of taking in their refugees in the future. As a Pacific island nation, Tuvalu will have to shoulder a future burden that it has contributed little to.
