Ukraine brings the fight into Russia

Ukraine today hit the Kremlin with a surprise attack across the Russian border. The area where Ukraine is invading is Kursk, an area near Belgorod Oblast, an area also familiar with Russian attacks. Belgorod is another city in Russia which has dealt with Ukranian attacks.

In Kursk, thousands of people have begun the evacuation process from the city and border with Ukraine. Ukraine has also begun evacuating its people from the border with Russia, expecting there to be brutal combat in the area. The government of Kursk has put a state of military emergency into effect, with Russian troops being deployed in "counter terrorist operations" as a response to the attacks.

It has been alleged that Vladimir Putin was taken aback by the news of Ukraine's attack and has been in frequent talks with Russian generals about the situation. It is still unclear how the war will end, but one thing is clear: the war is far from over.
