Why JD Vance Won Tuesday's Debate

On October 1, the vice presidential picks for president participated in a debate hosted by CBS News. This is why JD Vance won the debate.

JD Vance, unlike his running mate, was very calm and collective. He did not insist on using constant personal attacks on his opponents, but rather focused heavily on the issues at hand and how a possible Trump/Vance administration could fix them. He agreed heavily with his opponent Tim Walz that many issues addressed need to be solved, such as gun violence and the low real estate supply. He even shook hands with Walz several times, highlighting his likeable character as a common sense, compromising politician restoring peace in the White House.

Tim Walz also performed very well, perhaps even better than Kamala Harris than her respective debate. Just like Vance, he did not nearly charge as many personal attacks on his opponents, and addressed the issues at hand. However, what set him apart from Vance was his demeanor: he oftentimes looked very anxious and stutters a lot while Vance was calm and confident, even brazen.

This debate, unlike the presidential debate, could have a big impact on the results of the 2024 election. Many Republicans who were turned off from the chaotic nature of Trump may now change their minds with Vance, the more peaceful candidate.
