American President Donald Trump has gone on the record to state that Kyiv is partially to blame for the war and that it was possible for them to end the war earlier. His plan to end the war has been leaked, with Ukraine not being guaranteed their pre-2022 borders or N.A.T.O membership. This plan has been slammed by our allies and the former vice president as giving Russia precisely what it wants. Ukraine itself has also rejected these plans, wanting their 2014 borders with Crimea back in the nation. It fails to bring peace because it sets the precedent that Might Makes Right is a valid way to gain land. If Russia's annexations were legitimized, it would also send China the message that if they drain Western appetite for support, Taiwan could be conquered. China has been acutely watching the Russo-Ukrainian war, and if China invades Taiwan, it will use the war as a way to learn how to make an invasion more effective. Also, if they learn that the Trump Presidency will not send support to Taiwan, China will be ecstatic.
