Eric Adams Indicted: What's Next?

Eric Adams was indicted last week because of allegations of foreign collusion.

Adams was charged with numerous crimes of foreign collusion with a Turkish businessman during his mayoral campaign in 2021, as exposed by campaign phones showing revealing connections.

Now, many politicians have called for Adams to resign, including the well-known Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who previously supported him during his mayoral campaign.

Now, with his resignation being imminent, there has been many speculation as to who will succeed him.

The first person after him is NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, who would serve as interim mayor until a special election is called. In that scenario, Williams would very likely run for mayor. However, Andrew Cuomo has also expressed interest in running for mayor in the case of a special election, opening the door for divisions within the Democratic Party.
