The former main prosecutor of the Epstein case, Maurene Comey has sued the Department of Justice for her July termination. Maurene Comey has claimed that she was given no official reason for termination. She accused her firing as being a political tool to punish her for being her father's daughter. For context, Maurene Comey is the daughter of James Comey, the former FBI director. James Comey was fired during the first Trump administration. After being fired, James Comey has been a vocal critic of Trump throughout both administrations.
Another possible reason that critics have noted is the fact that Comey was on the investigation team for high-profile cases such as Jeffery Epstein, Ghislane Maxwell, and Sean Combs, all well known for being infamous. As of this time, Comey has neither confirmed or denied these suspicions.
