A massive port strike along the East Coast of the United States is causing immense damage to the supply of bananas and auto parts throughout the nations.
Roughly 45,000 port employees are set to strike in many parts of the East Coast and Gulf Coast. They are mainly members of the International Longshoreman's Union, which they are actively trying to pressure to deliver concessions aimed at fighting injustices in the labor environment, including low wages and long hours.
If the ILU does not reach a deal by September 30th, the strikes could expand even more than the expected 45,000, causing severe supply chain issues.
