Harris Startles Republicans with Strong Momentum

Kamala Harris, the presumptive Democratic nominee in the 2024 presidential momentum, has clearly faced a dramatic two weeks for her campaign.

Just a mere three weeks ago, Kamala Harris was not deemed to be a contender against Trump in the race. Having been running as President Biden's VP for a second term, Kamala had some of the worst polling for any vice president in recent American history. She was heavily disapproved of, almost by a whopping 15%, having been connected to the many mistakes and blunders of the Biden presidency.

However, Harris made her identity distinct from Biden. Following Biden's dropping out of the race two weeks ago, Harris refused to express her role working with Biden, but rather how she could independently make change. This is a very intelligent move for her, as connecting herself with Biden's policies could drop her underwater in the polls just like Biden.

She has effectively used social media to her advantage, especially for attracting Gen-Z voters. Her social media platform, Kamala HQ, stuck with common trends to find some sort of relatability with young voters which Biden especially lacked, such as short-form content in the platform TikTok.

Furthermore, Harris exemplified her diverse ethnic background to attract minority voters. Being half-Indian and half-Jamaican, Harris appealed to many Asian and black voters, mostly women, who weren't connected with the much older, white Joe Biden. She has made diversity and racial tolerance a key aspect of her campaign so far.

The results of her campaign are so far astonishing. She narrowed Donald Trump's national lead until ultimately taking back the lead in the national polls for the first time since before Biden's disastrous debate performance. Also, she has showed strength in swing states, especially the Rust Belt and the Sun Belt, where she held massive rallies and narrowed the gap between her and the previously-leading Trump.
