Looming fears of a Tiktok ban has led to users "migrating" to other sites.

Due to a growing fear among Tiktok users of an American ban on the app, there has been a mass exodus from it. The push by the United States to ban the app has come from worries of its data collection policies and its ties to China. Tiktok's parent company Bytedance has to contend with a ultimatum of either selling off their American operation, or being banned in the country. While the push for the ban has been bipartisan, they do not have the full support of their full parties. President-elect Donald Trump, for example has become a strong defender of Tiktok remaining unbanned. Tiktok influencers have been seen on other alternatives such as Instagram Reels and Youtube Shorts. While many have fled to other popular social media sites, some have moved to lesser known sites, such as a Chinese site called Xiaohongshu, where former Tiktok users have been seen. While the Supreme Court remains uncertain on whether to proceed with the ultimatum or not, with concerns about the ban being unconstitutional.
