In a new July poll for the 2025 New York City mayoral election, Zohran Mamdani leads all challengers by commanding leads in ever version of the poll.

In the latest poll from Gotham Polling, in a three-way race, Mamdani takes a strong lead with 47.3% of the vote, with incumbent Eric Adams taking roughly 28% of the vote and Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa taking 12% of the vote. About 12.8% of the voting block was unsure.
Even in a five-way race between Mamdani, Adams, Sliwa, ex-governor Andrew Cuomo, and lawyer Jim Walden, Mamdani holds onto a very solid lead with 41.3% of the vote, with Cuomo behind at 26.6%, Adams at 16.4%, Sliwa at 9.7%, and Walden at about 1.6%.
In other related polls by Gotham, 51% of voters stated that they would never vote for Eric Adams, 39% said that Cuomo was a "hard no," 49% said no to Sliwa under any circumstances, and Jim Walden took 1-2% of moderate support from Adams and Cuomo, helping the far-left Mamdani in the general election.
Still, about 57% of voters said they would not vote for Mamdani, and 46% said that his policies would be too extreme. But, Gotham noted, "Still, unless moderates consolidate, Mamdani’s path remains open."
The best sign for Mamdani is that out of those who said that they could vote for Mamdani, the vast majority of them were strong locks for Mamdani, meaning that his base is fervently for him.

Zohran Mamdani's lead in these polls should be a very scary sign for the moderates running against him, and for him is a massive boost to his campaign. Holding a lead so significantly very early on, even when the momentum from his campaign has not yet ceased, means that his floor is very high. No matter how the other candidates form, Mamdani is virtually guaranteed a strong showing.
Even if Mamdani were to lose, he would very likely be handed the second-place title, allowing him to have greater leverage in city politics and potentially run again in the future.
Based on these numbers, according to Gotham, Cuomo, "clearly appears to have the stronger path to beating Mamdani—he draws broader support and faces lower rejection than any other candidate in the field." Even so, they noted that Adams will still siphon away voted from Cuomo, helping Mamdani further.
